Ultimate Fighting Championship officials doled out the usual $50,000 post-fight bonuses for UFC 173 on Saturday night in Las Vegas, and main eventer TJ Dillashaw made selecting the winners of those bonuses a rather easy chore.
Toppling one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet by dominating and then finishing Renan Barão to win the UFC bantamweight championship, Dillashaw scored both a Performance of the Night and the Fight of the Night bonus.
With the two bonuses, Dillashaw scored an additional $100,000 on top of his contracted pay.
Of course, Barão was also a benefactor of the Fight of the Night award, but it was likely little consolation after losing his belt and ending a nine-year unbeaten streak.
The second of the two Performance of the Night awards went to Mitch Clarke, who took out The Ultimate Fighter 15 runner-up Al Iaquinta. Less than a minute into the second round, Clarke finished Iaquinta with a D’Arce choke.
