Shortly after announcing a flyweight title bout between Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez for The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale, UFC officials unleashed another 125-pound showdown.
Ali Bagautinov and Tim Elliott will square off at UFC 167, the promotion’s 20th Anniversary show.
Bagautinov (11-2) stormed into the UFC with a third-round TKO stoppage of Marcus Vinicius at UFC Fight Night 28 earlier this month. That victory increased his unbeaten streak to nine consecutive bouts.
Elliott (10-3-1) has lost only once in his last 11 trips to the cage, that being to one of the flyweight division’s top contenders, John Dodson. Following that loss, he has put together back-to-back victories over Jared Papazian and Louis Gaudinot.
The two will fight in support of the UFC 167 fight card headlined by UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre putting his belt on the line against No. 1 contender Johny Hendricks on Nov. 16 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
