There was a lot of build-up to the big three fights at UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber, but not all of the fights went as most expected.
UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz defended his belt against Urijah Faber, the only man to every beat him. Cruz walked away with a unanimous decision victory.
Chris Leben not only shocked the world with his brutal knockout of Wanderlei Silva, but at the same time, he may also have become Silva’s final opponent. UFC president Dana White started the retirement talk following the former Pride champion’s loss to Leben.
In another stunner, former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz returned to form, dropping and submitting rising contender Ryan Bader, a man most considered a younger, stronger version of Ortiz. The victory resurrected Ortiz’s career. He likely would have been cast into retirement had he not pulled off the win.
