The UFC has received mixed reaction since officially announcing the Fight Pass digital network a week ago in Las Vegas.
As with any new project – especially one the magnitude of Fight Pass – there have been glitches and kinks to work out along the way. But Saturday marked the true test for the product.
With UFC Fight Night 34 going down in Singapore during the wee hours of Saturday morning Stateside, a live event streamed on the digital network for the first time. For the early image for the value of Fight Pass, that marked a seminal moment.
Judging by the reactions on Twitter, user experiences ranged from glowingly positive to bitterly negative. However, when the event came to a close, it seemed the one constant was a quality stream, which may be the most important aspect of it all.
Fight Pass is likely to continue to evolve. But to see how the fighters, fans and media members from throughout the MMA community felt about the digital network’s live event, check out these Twitter reactions below.

I’m in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in the mountains and Fight Pass works perfect. How is it working for all of u? pic.twitter.com/ipPmD2No5K

Sure, I mention a few times that I like the early UFC start times, and now I’m sitting here at 4:45am waiting for UFN 34 to start.
— Dann Stupp (@MMAjunkieDann) January 4, 2014
I can’t believe I volunteered to cover this event this early, but I did. UFC Fight Night 34 results coming to @MMAFighting.
— Luke Thomas (@SBNLukeThomas) January 4, 2014
I stayed up all night so I could hunch over my computer and watch random guys who no one has ever heard of fight in Asia. I have no life.
— Luca Fury (@FurysFightPicks) January 4, 2014
There you have it. UFC Fight Pass has successful-so-far live event launch. Is it a man-on-moon moment? (No, b/c moon landing was fake.)
— Matt Erickson (@MMAjunkieMatt) January 4, 2014
One minor thing I don’t like – video size doesn’t adjust to window size. Annoying if you need 2 windows like myself #UFCSingapore
— Chris Hall (@Chris81203) January 4, 2014
Video quality is excellent so far, and the audio is synched up nicely. Looking forward to my first taste of UFC on Fight Pass.
— Adam Martin (@MMAdamMartin) January 4, 2014
Stream looks great tho. #UFCFightNight34 still no sound. U guys have sound?
— Marcelino Evil (@KCBanditMMA) January 4, 2014
While it’s early, the stream of prelims on my computer and iPad have been solid #UFCFightPass
— Jason Floyd (@Jason_Floyd) January 4, 2014
so in order to watch the entire UFC Fight Night event in Poland you have to pay 33 $ (20 for prelims, 13 for main card)
— Wojslaw Rysiewski (@mmarocks_pl) January 4, 2014
I don’t really understand why @UFC why UFC can’t make the Fight Pass available for Poland @danawhite @ZiggysFollies @seanshelby
— Wojslaw Rysiewski (@mmarocks_pl) January 4, 2014
UFC Fight Pass looks pretty good on my Samsung Smart TV. #fingerscrossed pic.twitter.com/hnSD0MqNZe
— Marc Raimondi (@marc_raimondi) January 4, 2014
1st 5 mins of the UFC.TV stream is very clear, not glitchy and Brian Stann is killing it. #UFCSingapore
— Heidi Fang (@HeidiFang) January 4, 2014
Ok, why are they showing a UFC Fight Pass Ad on a Fight Pass stream? I think we know
— Rian Scalia (@rianscalia) January 4, 2014
Going to be weird seeing nothing but UFC ads all night on this thing. I have a feeling we’ll be sick of UFC Fit before morning’s end.
— TJ De Santis (@TJDeSantis) January 4, 2014
I’ve got a lowly 4MB/sec Internet connection, but the UFC stream looks fantastic. No issues here.
— Dann Stupp (@MMAjunkieDann) January 4, 2014
The more I use #UFCFightPass the more I’m liking it. Totally worth the $10 a month in my eyes. #UFC
— Peter Arata (@pete__tweet) January 4, 2014
@ufc fight pass is the best thing that happened since pay preview.
— Kailani Gracie (@KailaniGracie) January 4, 2014

— Marcelino Evil (@KCBanditMMA) January 4, 2014
@shanp1234 Nice thing about UFC Fight Pass- you can come back to this when you wake up.
— UFC (@ufc) January 4, 2014
@ragibson Yeah, the free Fightpass trial. Same platform as UFC.tv if you know what that’s like. Good quality but can be a bit jerky.
— Adrian Pua (@adrianpua) January 4, 2014
I’ll admit it. This UFC Fight Pass thing ain’t half bad. Best thing about it is that it raises the bar for Internet broadcast platforms.
— jim genia (@jim_genia) January 4, 2014
#UFCSingapore positives: quality of Fight Pass live stream, Brian Stann, Joe Martinez. Negatives: The fights. Yikes.
— Taylor Smyth (@TaylorSmyth10) January 4, 2014
If you care, my stream looks perfect but the audio is hollow/crackily. Could just be my Internet connection. How about you?
— Ariel Helwani (@arielhelwani) January 4, 2014
The UFC had help from the MLB advanced media team and utilizes a spinnaker technology for UFC.tv, so expect variable bit rates inc/ audio
— Pete D. (@longhornsMMA) January 4, 2014
Fight Pass requires you to switch streams now for the main card. The BLUE and RED corner cams are now available, and quad view
— Fight_Ghost (@Fight_Ghost) January 4, 2014
“It’s 8 AM and there’s two random Asian guys with no Wikipedia page fighting on my computer.” The unofficial motto of the UFC Fight Pass.
— Jonathan Snowden (@mmaencyclopedia) January 4, 2014
Wait, there are separate streams for the prelims and the main card even though they’re both free through the same app?
— pdl (@pdlmma) January 4, 2014
I didn’t know u have to go back to the front page and start it over to see the rest of the card. That is stupid, we will fix that.
— Dana White (@danawhite) January 4, 2014
I have a FIght Pass subscription. I’m being asked to pay for the fight card. Back to bed for me.
— Jeremy Botter (@jeremybotter) January 4, 2014
Logging out, then signing back in took care of the problem.
— Jeremy Botter (@jeremybotter) January 4, 2014
Watching @ufc on my iphone is pretty cool – loving #UFCFightPass @MCHammer
— Lex McMahon (@lexmcmahonMMA) January 4, 2014
Oh UFC! What in the hell? A replay during an early morning Fight Pass card? Come on man! I want to go to Waffle House!
— Jonathan Snowden (@mmaencyclopedia) January 4, 2014
This @ufc fight pass is awesome. Really is like a netflix of fights. Watching the first ever Live event now! Saffiedine vs Lim.
— Joe Cloutier (@JCloutier2115) January 4, 2014
tonight’s bonus winners get a 2-month free trial to UFC Fight Pass
— Chris Nelson (@3amMMA) January 4, 2014
