Twitter reacts to former UFC champ Rich Franklin's MMA retirement

Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin made his MMA retirement official on Monday .

Although Franklin (29-7 MMA, 14-6 UFC) hasn’t competed in nearly three years, he’s frequently stated since his last octagon appearance in November 2012 that he intended to come back for one final bout.

That won’t be the case, though, after Franklin revealed his time as an active competitor is over – 16 years after his MMA journey began.

Franklin alternated wins and losses over his final eight UFC bouts, but he’ll be remembered for more than inconsistent results that closed out his career. “Ace” acted as one of the sport’s great ambassadors and held UFC gold through one of the organization’s boom periods.

Following the announcement, several members of the MMA community reacted to the news. Check below for the top Twitter reactions to Franklin’s retirement.
