Another fight has been made official for next month’s UFC return to Brazil – and it will take the co-main event slot.
Brazil’s Thomas Almeida (21-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) is set to meet Albert Morales (6-0-1 MMA, 0-0-1 UFC) in a bantamweight bout at UFC Fight Night 100, the promotion today confirmed.
UFC Fight Night 100 takes place Nov. 19 at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo. It airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass. It is the second of two cards that day for the UFC after UFC Fight Night 99 in Northern Ireland.
Almeida will be looking to rebound from the first loss of his pro career. At UFC Fight Night 88 in May in Las Vegas, he was knocked out by Cody Garbrandt, a fellow unbeaten fighter at the time, in the first round of their main event. That snapped a 21-fight winning streak to open his career, including what was a perfect 4-0 with four fight-night bonuses in the UFC. Prior to signing with the UFC in 2014, he won Legacy FC’s bantamweight title.
Morales, a Bellator, WSOF and RFA veteran, made his promotional debut in September at UFC Fight Night 94 in Hidalgo, Texas, but had to walk away with a disappointing majority draw in his fight against Alegandro Perez. The California native was coming off a 20-second knockout of Mario Israel at RFA 38 in June, which earned him a call from the UFC.
