SEPT. 10 — Ryan Curtis Says He’s Coming for the BAMMA Flyweight Belt

SEPT. 10 — Ryan Curtis Says He’s Coming for the BAMMA Flyweight Belt

Over the course of the past year, Irish prospect Ryan Curtis has had just about as good of a run as anyone could ask for.

In three fights, Curtis has managed to get three finishes, yet he still feels the ceiling is high for himself, and has only just begun to display his skills.

“I feel like that’s about 30-percent what I’m capable of,” Curtis told MMAWeekly.com. “I know when I come out and put a pace on these guys none of them can take it. I move to fast, I hit too hard and I fight too smart.”

After starting off his career in the ICE promotion, Curtis now steps up to BAMMA, and it’s a move he believes can help take him even further in his career.

“Obviously it’s BAMMA, one of the premier shows worldwide, not even just in Europe,” he said. “It’s a great feeder to the UFC, where eventually I will end up.

“But as far as pressure goes (stepping up into BAMMA), I’ve done this every day for nearly all my life and have plenty of fights, (so) not much fazes me, but I will be putting in (tireless) work in the gym like I always do.”

For his BAMMA debut on September 10 in Dublin, Ireland, Curtis (3-0) will take on fellow undefeated up and comer Aaron Robinson (1-0) in a preliminary 125-pound bout.

“I don’t know much about Aaron, and I don’t need to,” said Curtis. “All I need to do is focus on me and make sure I’m ready fight night. Just fight like I know I can, and once I do that everything will look after itself.”

With the year winding down, Curtis is looking forward to getting in a couple more bouts, which he hopes will put him in a position to challenge for a title in the near future.

“We will see what happens,” he said. “I have not booked (another fight) yet but I do want to fight a couple of more times before the end of 2016.

“I’m coming for that flyweight BAMMA belt, so who knows probably a title fight before the end of the year with some good performances, who knows.”
