Report: UFC signs unbeaten Chinese bantamweight Jumabieke Tuerxun

jumabieke-tuerxun.jpgThe UFC has inked its second fighter from China with the signing of Jumabieke Tuerxun.

Tuerxun (14-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is an unbeaten bantamweight who went 4-0 in 2012. The new comes via the UFC through the Chinese website Weibo, though the promotion has not made a formal announcement. iJudgeFights first reported the news stateside.

Tuerxun will be the second fighter from China under the UFC banner, joining Tiequan Zhang, “The Mongolian Wolf” – not to be confused with Tuerxun’s nickname, “The Wild Wolf.”

Tuerxun, the former Legend Fighting Championship 135-pound champion, has half of his 14 career wins by stoppage, including four submissions. He turned pro in 2009, going 4-0 in his first year in the sport.

But after a layoff of a little more than two years, Tuerxun returned and made up for lost time by fighting six times in the second half of 2011 to run his record to 10-0.

There is no word yet of when Tuerxun will debut with the promotion. But the UFC has ramped up its presence in Asia in recent months, opening an office there and holding events in Japan earlier this month and in February 2012. And in November, it held its first event in China with UFC on FUEL TV 6 in Macao.
