Tonight’s UFC 213 headliner appears to be in jeopardy.
UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes (14-4 MMA, 7-1 UFC) is in the hospital, though her bout with challenger Valentina Shevchenko (14-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) hasn’t been officially scrapped.
MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani first tweeted the details:
MMAjunkie could not immediately reach UFC officials or Nunes’ representatives for confirmation.
However, ESPN.com’s Brett Okamoto subsequently reported the fight is “100 percent” canceled (via Twitter):
UFC 213 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and the main card, including the Nunes vs. Shevchenko rematch and main event, airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Nunes appeared a bit depleted but in good spirits when she officially weighed in for the event on Friday. Video of her weigh-in can be seen above.
