Octagon Debutants Sandoval, Watson to Collide at UFC Live 6

Bantamweight newcomers Walel Watson and Joseph Sandoval have signed with the UFC and will square off at UFC Live 6, according to the promotion.

Headlined by a bantamweight title tilt pitting Demetrious Johnson against Dominick Cruz, the event goes down Oct. 1 from the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. Also featuring a heavyweight showdown between Pat Barry and Stefan Struve, the main draw of UFC Live 6 will air live on the Versus network.

Known as “The Gazelle,” Watson has won eight of his last nine bouts. Fighting out of Team Hurricane Awesome, the Californian lost his professional debut in 2008 but responded by stringing together seven consecutive victories prior to an ill-fated Tachi Palace Fights 9 appearance in May, whene he was knocked out by Cody Gibson. The 27-year-old rebounded from the defeat by notching a win in his most recent outing, finishing Ismael Leon with a first-round anaconda choke on June 25.

Sandoval (Pictured, File Photo) is undefeated in six pro outings. The 25-year-old has done the majority of his damage in the Shark Fights cage, fighting five times for the Texas-based organization. Representing Bighead MMA, the Texan has finished half of his conquered foes, most recently earning his first submission win when he forced Randy Hinds to submit to strikes at Shark Fights 16 two months ago.
