Michael Page Looking To ‘Leave a Mark’ at Bellator 158 in London

In picking up his first win of 2016 over Jeremie Holloway in April at Bellator 153, not only did Michael “Venom” Page keep his undefeated streak going, but he proved he was more than just a striker by pulling off a leg lock submission early in the first round.

“He made a major lapse in judgement to run at me, but at the same all the credit to him for taking the first shot,” said Page of Holloway. “I was obviously happy with the way I finished the fight as well.

“A lot of people don’t know that I have that kind of ability my locker. Finishing with a good submission win, that I don’t think you’ve seen in an MMA bout before, it’s just good to get a finish that way.”

The win over Holloway keeps Page’s momentum going into his upcoming return to the United Kingdom for the first time in over three years. With what he’s been able to accomplish in that time in MMA, he feels nothing but anticipation of returning to his homeland for a fight.

“There’s no pressure at all, it’s pure excitement,” Page told MMAWeekly.com. “I remember the times I was fighting in the UK in a show called UCMMA. My first three fights were crazy. I already had my kickboxing fans and teammates supporting me, so there was a lot of noise, but this is going to be 10, 20, 30 times more exciting and support in the O2 Arena.

“With the amount of wins I’ve had now, so much more people are going be excited for me to be in the UK. So it’s going to be crazy, and I genuinely can’t wait to be in the cage.”

Page (10-0) will make his return to London, England on July 16 to take on veteran Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos (21-17) in a main card 170-pound bout at Bellator 158.

“(Santos is) very strong and powerful, but there’s only one MVP, and I say that for a reason, very few people can find a replica of me to train against,” said Page. “Even when he finishes the fight, he’s not going to know what he’s going to have to improve or get that win. I feel confident in my abilities.

“I’m a person who likes to hit and not be hit, and I think that’s what makes me so dangerous. With those four-ounce gloves, it only takes a graze to change the fight. My style just fits perfectly for this game. I want people to realize that the style that I deliver is a very effective style for MMA.”

It’s Page’s determination to showcase his style that drives him over the course of his MMA career. Should a title arise due to the success he has, then that is something extra, but for now he wants to keep winning and changing people’s perception of the game.

“I want to leave a print, leave a mark, and revolutionize the way people think about stand-up,” Page said. “The more the win, the more I knock people down, the more I submit people, the title will eventually be in my hands. So it’s just one thing at a time.”
