Max Holloway Draws Marquee UFC 206 Bout | MMAWeekly.com

It’s looking less and less likely that Georges St-Pierre will grace the Octagon at UFC 206 on Dec. 10, but company officials on Wednesday added two more bouts to the Toronto fight card.

Chief among the latest additions is a pivotal featherweight fight between Max Holloway and Anthony Pettis.

11-Leonard Garcia vs Max Holloway UFC 155-1778Holloway (16-3) has one of the longest active winning streaks in the UFC without being granted a title shot. Currently ranked No. 3, the Hawaiian has won nine consecutive fights, the four most recent of which came against Top 10 fighters. His last loss was to 145-pound champ Conor McGregor, but he is the only featherweight fighter to take the Irishman the distance.

Pettis (19-5) has only one fight at featherweight, a victory over Top 10-ranked Charles Oliveira in August. However, having once held the UFC lightweight championship and remaining a perennially ranked fighter, it didn’t take long for him to catapult to No. 6 in the featherweight division.

A victory over Holloway would immediately put Pettis near the top of the list for the next 145-pound title shot. Holloway, though, has already more than earned a shot at the belt, and defeating Pettis would cement his status as the top contender in the division.

Also announced for the UFC 206 fight card is a bantamweight bout between Mitch Gagnon and Matthew Lopez.

Officials also revealed a change to the Toronto line-up, announcing that Viviane Pereira replaced the injured Poliana Botelho in a 115-pound match-up with Valerie Letourneau.

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier puts his belt on the line against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson in the UFC 206 main event.
