Mark Munoz will try to keep his streak against former Arizona State All-Americans alive with his next fight. He will take on C.B. Dollaway in a middleweight bout on an as of yet unannounced card for March, set to be the first UFC on Versus for 2011.
The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the match-up, with verbal agreements in place from both competitors. No contracts have been issued at this point.
The show rumored for early March has been set as the first UFC on Versus card in the New Year, but a date and venue have not been determined as of now.
Picking up a win over Aaron Simpson at UFC 123, Munoz (9-2) was admittedly conflicted with facing a person he was very good friends with. Munoz came out on top in an exciting fight, and now he’s going to try to go two for two against the camp from Arizona.
Coming in on a three-fight winning streak, looking to derail Munoz, is former “Ultimate Fighter” finalist C.B. Dollaway, another former All-American wrestler from Arizona State who still trains with Aaron Simpson after being coached by him in college.
Dollaway has gotten better with each performance he’s had over the last year, including picking up a bonus check for “Submission of the Night” at UFC 119 with a win over Joe Doerksen.
The middleweight fight is expected to be one of the main televised fights for the proposed March card. MMAWeekly.com will have more information on the date and venue for the show when it becomes available.
