Mark Hunt Predicts First-Round Knockout Over Bigfoot Silva at UFC 193

In December 2013, heavyweights Mark Hunt and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva fought to a majority draw in Brisbane, Australia, in a back-and-forth classic that earned them Fight of the Night honors. The two will rematch at UFC 193 on Nov. 15 in Melbourne, but this time Hunt doesn’t think the fight will go the distance.

In fact, Hunt believes that he’ll knock out Bigfoot in the first round. “First round by knockout. First round,” the 41-year-old recently predicted while appearing on Submission Radio.

Their first fight was one of the best contests in recent heavyweight history, but was tainted when Silva tested positive to elevated levels of testosterone following the event.

“I was disappointed, but you know, I think everyone’s going to try and get ahead somehow. I for one ain’t cheating or anything like that, but it is what it is. It’s the past and you just move on,” said Hunt about Silva’s positive drug test.

Mark Hunt vs Bigfoot SilvaIn the time since their war, Hunt never sought a rematch. He’s not one that dwells on previous fights, but is excited that the UFC put together the second bout.

“I haven’t been chasing [the rematch]. I get told the fights that I’m going to fight and that’s it,” he said. “It’s a rematch. I mean, I’ve never lost a rematch and it’s one of those — it’s going to be an exciting fight. I’m looking forward to it.”

When two first fought, they headlined the fight card, and the bout was five rounds in duration. The rematch will be three rounds, although Hunt envisions that he’ll only need one.

“It’s a three-round fight, and I don’t think it’s going to go three rounds at all,” he said. “I’ll be in tip-top shape, and I won’t make the mistakes I did last time. I was up having to cut weight. So I’ll be fine,” said Hunt.

“It will end pretty quickly, I say.”
