MMA in the Summer Games? Three UFC Olympians weigh in

Could MMA ever be part of the Olympics? It’s a topic that the MMA industry has debated on multiple occasions, but three UFC 170 co-headliners – all of whom have Olympic experience – offered a reality check.

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and opponent Sara McMann, respectively judo and wrestling medalists, as well as former U.S. Olympic wrestling team captain Daniel Cormier all suggested that such an initiative would present serious logistical issues.

Rousey and McMann mention a few in the above video, but Cormier was a bit more blunt.

“I don’t think it’ll happen, man,” said Cormier, shaking his head. “I just don’t think it’ll happen.”

Find out why in the above video.

And catch all three fighters in action on Feb. 22 at UFC 170. Rousey (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and McMann (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) headline the pay-per-view event, and Cormier (13-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) makes his 205-pound debut against ex-champ Rashad Evans (19-3-1 MMA, 14-3-1 UFC) in the co-headliner.
