Lightweights Hallman, Ferguson to Meet at UFC on Fox 3 in NJ

A lightweight confrontation pitting Dennis Hallman against Tony Ferguson has been added to UFC on Fox 3, promotion officials recently announced.

The bout marks the second 155-pound attraction announced for the May 5 event, which takes place at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J. The show, which will be the UFC’s second of four planned live events on Fox’s flagship network this year, will also showcase a pivotal lightweight affair pitting Jim Miller against Nate Diaz.

Hallman (Pictured) attempted his first move to 155 pounds since 2001 when he clashed with John Makdessi at UFC 140 in December. Though he dominated the Canadian and finished Makdessi with a first-round rear-naked choke, Hallman failed to make the lightweight limit, checking in at 158.5 pounds the day before the bout. “Superman” is a 15-year veteran of the sport and has won three of his last four fights, earning wins over Ben Saunders and Karo Parisyan in that span.

Ferguson, 27, will enter the cage nine years younger than his foe. The winner of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 13, “El Cucuy” knocked out Ramsey Nijem in the live season final on June 4 to earn the title of “TUF” champion. A winner of six straight fights, Ferguson followed his knockout of Nijem with a pair of Octagon victories, finishing Aaron Riley in September before narrowly outpointing Yves Edwards at the “TUF 14” finale on Dec. 3.
