Lee-Cariaso Booked for UFC 138 in England

The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Thursday confirmed that Vaughan Lee will face Chris Cariaso (Pictured, file photo) in the Brit’s inaugural Octagon appearance at UFC 138.

The 135-pound contest joins a host of other announced matchups at the Nov. 5 event, which will emanate from the LG Arena in Birmingham, England. Featuring the UFC’s first non-title five-round main event between Chris Leben and Mark Munoz, the show will air in the U.S. on Spike TV via same-day tape delay.

Lee has won four of his last five heading into his showdown with Cariaso, earning a perfect record in 2011 and notching three consecutive first-round victories. Representing the Ultimate Training Centre, Lee has only seen the judges’ scorecards once as a professional, finishing 10 of his 11 career victims by either knockout or submission. Most recently, Lee knocked out Marlon Jones on July 10, finishing his foe in the first round.

One of many WEC transplants, Cariaso has fought with mixed results since joining the Zuffa-owned promotion in 2010. “Kamikaze” debuted at WEC 49, earning a unanimous nod over Rafael Rebello before succumbing to a Renan “Barao” do Nascimento Mota Pegado rear-naked choke in December. The American made his first Octagon appearance at UFC “Fight for the Troops 2” in January, outpointing Will Campuzano. However, the former Strikeforce and EliteXC talent fell by split decision in his most recent outing to young gun Michael McDonald at UFC 130 in May.
