Kevin 'Baby Slice' Ferguson Jr.'s pro debut delayed after Bellator 162 opponent misses weight

The professional MMA debut of Kevin Ferguson Jr., the son of the late Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson, has been postponed once again.

Ferguson Jr. (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), known as “Baby Slice,” was scheduled to make his Bellator debut at Friday’s Bellator 162 event. Unfortunately, opponent Ray Bing (0-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) missed weight by nearly 17 pounds at this morning’s official weigh-in and, as a result, the 165-pound catchweight fight was canceled.

Bellator officials confirmed the news to MMAjunkie following a report from FloCombat.

“As a result of Ray Bing missing weight by 16 pounds this morning, the bout has been canceled,” the statement read. “Ferguson Jr. was paid his show money and will be re-scheduled to fight before the end of 2016.”

Bellator 162 takes place at FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn. The main card airs on Spike following prelims streams on MMAjunkie.

According to Bellator officials, Ferguson Jr. tipped the scale at 164.6 pounds. Bing came in at 181.9 pounds.

Ferguson Jr. was originally scheduled to make his Bellator debut in August, but his fight was pushed back due to injury. He was scheduled again for Bellator 162, but roughly 24 hours before the event was scheduled to begin, officially lost his opponent and was ruled out of the card.

With seven more Bellator events scheduled for the remainder of 2016, the promotion has said Ferguson Jr. will be placed on another card against a new opponent.
