John Lineker Misses Weight Again, Fined 25-Percent of UFC Fight Night 30 Purse

John LinekerStrike three is never good… especially when Dana White is your boss.

John Lineker on Friday missed weight for the third time during his UFC tenure of five fights. He will, however, still face Phil Harris at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 30: Machida vs. Munoz in Manchester, England. Harris hit the mark at 125 pounds, but their bout will now be contested at a 128-pound catchweight.

Lineker tipped the scale Friday at 128 pounds, and then declined to try and lose the two pounds that he was over for the limit of a flyweight non-title bout. He instead accepted a penalty costing him 25-percent of his show money, according to UFC officials.

That is a slightly stiffer penalty than the 20-percent fine that is usually associated with missing weight.  The reasoning for the increased penalty is that this is the third time in five fights that Lineker has failed to make weight.

He missed weight in his UFC debut, which he lost to Louis Gaudinot, but was then successful at his next two weigh-ins. Lineker fell off the wagon at UFC 163 in August, only getting down to 129 pounds for his fight with José Maria.

Lineker has won all of his fights after the initial loss to Gaudinot, but is still likely to be on shaky ground with White. The UFC president is known for having little patience for fighters missing weight.
