John Gunderson vs. Dan Lauzon added to World Series of Fighting 3

john-gunderson-4.jpgLightweight John Gunderson’s callout of Jacob Volkmann wasn’t successful, but he did get another UFC vet for his promotional debut.

Gunderson (34-14-2) on Thursday told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that he is set to meet Dan Lauzon (16-4) at World Series of Fighting 3, which takes place June 14 in Las Vegas.

A venue for the event, whose main card airs live on NBC Sports Network, has yet to be confirmed.

Gunderson called out Volkmann when he signed with WSOF following his release from the UFC. Initially, the two were expected to meet, but the matchup was recently shifted.

Gunderson returns to action after suffering a neck injury that delayed his WSOF debut. He most recently fought this past July when he suffered a fourth-round submission loss to David Castillo. The setback came after impressive wins over UFC vets Karo Parisyan and Justin Buchholz.

Lauzon returns to the cage after a year-plus layoff, which put a halt to a four-fight win streak that followed a two-fight skid in the UFC. The younger brother of UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon, three of his four losses have come inside the octagon. In all but one fight, he’s dominated on the regional circuit.
