Jake Shields To Appear On TUF 11

Newly crowned Strikeforce middleweight champ Jake Shields (24-4-2) will soon be able to add the title of coach to his resume as he joins Team Liddell to be the grappling coach on the latest installment of The Ultimate Fighter reality show. He will fly to Las Vegas by the end of the week to prepare for the beginning of the two month taping period. This season of The Ultimate Fighter will premiere on Spike TV on March 31st and will feature all middleweights.

Shields actually began his MMA training in 1999 at Chuck Liddell’s SLO Kickboxing Gym in San Luis Obispo, CA before making a name for himself as a member of the Cesar Gracie Fight Team. “The Iceman” has recently enlisted Shields to assist him with his ground game and was reportedly blown away by his technical prowess.

Jake Shields joins training partners Nick Diaz and David Terrell as the only three people to receive black belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Cesar Gracie. He is widely regarded as a top ten middleweight fighter and holds notable victories over Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Robbie Lawler, Yushin Okami, and current UFC welterweight bruiser Paul Daley. His next fight is expected to be a defense of his Strikeforce middleweight strap in April against UFC and Pride veteran Dan Henderson (25-7).
