The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Sunday voted to reinstate wrestling during the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The sport, which was controversially dropped from the 2020 Games in February, had been the focus of a worldwide “Save Olympic Wrestling” campaign which included endorsements from numerous MMA fighters and organizations. Sunday’s vote saw wrestling garner 49 votes for reinstatement, more than doubling those of baseball-softball (24) and squash (22).
