Flyweight Title Match Headlines ONE FC: Rise of the Kingdom in Cambodia

ONE FC’s first ever card in Cambodia is set for Phnom Penh on Sept. 12. It will be headlined by a flyweight title bout between Brazilian Adriano Moraes and Filipino fighter Geje Eustaquio.

ONE FC: Rise of the Kingdom will take place at the Koh Pich Theatre making Cambodia the seventh different country that Asia’s biggest MMA promotion has been to this year in the wake of events in Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, and Taipei, with Dubai booked for August.

Moraes (11-1) secured a title shot with a third-round submission win over Kosuke Suzuki at ONE FC: Era of Champions in June. It was the second fight in succession in which he choked out a Japanese veteran with Yasuhiro Urushitani also tapping out to the Brazilian.

Eustaquio (6-2) defeated Kentaro Watanabe by unanimous decision on the same show that Moraes submitted Suzuki and has also outpointed Eugene Toquero and Alex Silva since making his ONE FC debut in 2012.

The event is taking place at a 4,200-capacity venue and will be on a slightly smaller scale than the average ONE FC show with the card likely to feature a large contingent of fighters who have emerged from the nascent Cambodian scene.

At present there are events taking place in Phnom Penh every single week that are televised by local broadcasters such as CTN and Bayon TV and, although the results are seldom recorded, there should be plenty of professional mixed martial artists in Cambodia for ONE FC to choose from.
