Fight Night San Antonio Bonus Recap

Six fighters joined the UFC's Senior Director of Public Relations, Dave Sholler, at the UFC Fight Night San Antonio post-fight press conference: Headliners Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens, undefeated welterweight Kelvin Gastelum, fast-rising light heavyweight Clint Hester, newcomer Carlos Diego Ferreira and TUF Brazil 1 winner Cezar Ferreira

Featherweights Swanson and Stephens took home Fight of the Night for their main event scrap. Stephens held the moment early, only to see Swanson rebound and take control over the final three rounds.

Flyweight Ray Borg was awarded one of two Performance of the Night bonues for his first-round finish of Shane Howell, marking his first win in the Octagon. The other Performance of the Night bonus was given to Diego Ferreira, who submitted TUF 16 winner Colton Smith.

Each winner was awarded $50,000. Click here to learn more about the new UFC post-fight bonus structure.

Sholler also addressed the news that recently retired UFC fighter Chael Sonnen again tested positive for banned substances after a second random drug test administered by the Nevada State Athletic Commission before his since-aborted bouts with Wanderlei Silva and then Vitor Belfort.

“We were made aware that a second random test conducted earlier this month resulted in a positive test for additional banned substances,” said Sholler. “Chael will have the opportunity to appear in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission next month and through a statement released to media tonight, he’s pledged to cooperate. Our stance on the subject remains absolutely the same. We support the commission and we will continue to ensure that all UFC competitors compete on an even playing field free of performance enhancing drugs and banned substances.”
