Eddie Ng Hopes His Evolution as a Fighter Leads to a ONE FC Victory Over Vincent Latoel

Eddie Ng_VictoryAlong with a solid base of veteran fighters, ONE FC has helped bring some of the best young talent in Asia to the MMA forefront.

Case in point is lightweight Eddie “The Magician” Ng.

After starting out his first few years in MMA slowly, Ng has stepped up his game since making his ONE FC debut in 2011 and has won four fights in a row for the company to add to an overall 7-1 record.

Included in his four wins for ONE FC were Ng’s two armbar submission victories last year over Arnaud Lepont and Peter Davis.

“Of course I am glad with the outcome of the fights that I had in 2013, however, I am my own worst critic and all I see are things that I need to improve upon from each fight,” Ng told MMAWeekly.com. “I use the past to improve my future and I have learnt valuable lessons from all of my previous fights.”

Having been over half a year since his last fight, Ng has continued work on his game and feels not one area has developed more than the others, but that his complete skillset has grown of late.

“I feel like my skill set is forever changing and evolving,” said Ng. “The coaching team that I am surrounded by on a daily basis at Evolve MMA is so complete with multiple world champions in Muay Thai, boxing, wrestling, and BJJ.

“With so many different coaches in different martial arts, I am constantly receiving new techniques to add to my game and little details that help to further refine my current skills.”

When Ng makes his ONE FC return on May 30 in Kallang, Singapore, he’ll be facing a veteran of 30 MMA fights in Vincent Latoel (14-14-2) in what could be his most challenging bout to date.

“When analyzing a fighter, it is always based on their stand-up ability, submission skills, etcetera, but experience is often overlooked in MMA,” said Ng. “There are certain things that occur in a fight that you simply cannot replicate in training.

“Vincent brings a solid striking game with submission ability to the table as well as a ton of ring time. A well-rounded skill set with a lot of fight experience is a dangerous opponent. I look forward to the challenge.”

With teammate Shinya Aoki currently holding the ONE FC lightweight title, Ng’s focus is continuing his development as a fighter as he moves forward in 2014.

“I want to stay healthy and fight again this year for sure,” said Ng. “On top of that, I want to continue training and soaking up as much knowledge as I can from my coaches and team mates at Evolve MMA to further develop as a martial artist.

“Thank you to all MMA fans that send me messages of support; I read each of them and really appreciate you all. Thank you to Chatri Sityodtong, Evolve MMA, Victor Cui, ONE FC and Berocca.”
