Danny Roberts vs. Jim Wallhead headlines Cage Warriors 68

A welterweight matchup between Danny Roberts and Jim Wallhead has been installed as the headlining bout of May’s Cage Warriors 68 event.

Cage Warriors recently confirmed the new main event, as well as a few key main-card matchups with Leeroy Barnes vs. Che Mills and Mauro Chimento vs. Matt Inman.

Cage Warriors 68 takes place May 3 at Liverpool’s Echo Arena. The main card streams in the U.S. on MMAjunkie.

“Judo Jim” Wallhead, a judo black belt, launched his career with Cage Warriors in 2005. He fought 15 times in the promotion – a Cage Warriors record – before competing for organizations such as M-1, Bellator (where he fought in two tournaments) and BAMMA, where he recently scored a slam-knockout of Florent Betorangal in his most recent bout back in December.

Meanwhile, “Hot Chocolate” Roberts, who fights in his adopted hometown of Liverpool, brings a four-fight winning streak to the cage, all four of which have come under the Cage Warriors banner. Eight of those 10 career wins have come by way of stoppage, including four knockouts and four submissions.

“Fighting in front of my friends, family and fans in my adopted hometown again for a top organization is going to be special, and I’m looking forward to welcoming Jimmy Wallhead into one of the toughest welterweight divisions in the world,” Roberts said. “He is a very well-respected fighter and is one of the biggest names in the sport in the U.K. This is going to be one that people won’t want to miss.”
