Carlos Condit still loves to fight but he’s not sure that he has any fight left in him.
That’s the message from the former UFC interim welterweight champion after his most recent loss to Alex Oliveira at UFC on FOX 29 where he suffered a second round loss after getting caught in a guillotine choke.
Condit has now gone 0-4 in his past four contests while putting together just a 1-5 record overall since 2014. It’s by far the toughest stretch the New Mexico native has endured and he addressed the possibility that maybe it’s time for him to call it a career when he spoke about the fight for the first time via Instagram on Monday.
“I trained my ass off and I came to fight. This is what leaving it all out there looked like on Saturday. Much respect to my opponent and his team. Thank you for taking the fight on short notice. Congratulations and best of luck in the future,” Condit wrote.
“I don’t know what’s next guys. I still love this game, and most days I still feel that fire, I absolutely love what it do, but maybe my time has passed. I don’t know the answer. This is what I know, this is my passion. I will never stop training, and If that leads me back to the Octagon, you know I’ll try to make it bloody for you.”
Throughout his career, Condit has been known for devastating finishes and a thrilling style whenever he steps into the Octagon.
Condit had previously considered retirement following a loss to Demian Maia in 2016 but he ultimately decided to return to action in late 2017 where he suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Neil Magny.
Now following this latest setback, Condit is once again contemplating his future in the sport but he’s not ready to make a decision one way or the other right now if he will fight again.
