Cage Warriors plots second half of 2014, including Sweden debut – and hope for USA

graham-boylan-1.jpgCage Warriors is on a slight break right now following its double-bill a month ago, but when it returns, it plans to return with vigor.

The London-based promotion on Friday announced that plans are in place for the second half of the calendar year, including its debut in Sweden, return trips to Ireland and Wales, and the hop for events in the Middle East – and the United States.

“We’re going to be very busy between now and the end of the year as we keep the fans entertained with plenty more world-class MMA,” Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan stated. “As well as several events in the U.K. and Ireland, plus our first show in Sweden, we’re also in the process of finalizing events in the USA, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Dubai, details of which I should be able to reveal in the not-too-distant future.”

So far in 2014, Cage Warriors has held eight events, the most recent of which came June 7 in London with two main cards back-to-back at Cage Warriors 69. Then came the current hiatus, which in part was planned around soccer’s World Cup.

After 14 events in 2013, its busiest year yet, the promotion hopes to raise the bar again in 2014 – and visits to nine different countries are planned.

Cage Warriors returns next month on Aug. 16 for Cage Warriors 70 in Dublin, followed by its debut in Stockholm on Aug. 23. The promotion heads to Newport, Wales, on Sept. 13; Newcastle, England, on Nov. 1; and back to Dublin for its traditional year-end show on New Year’s Eve.

The promotion said more events are planned in between those, and those events likely will range from the numbered event series (i.e. Cage Warriors 70) to cards in its “Fight Night” series.

Along with London in June, Cage Warriors in 2014 has been to Dublin; Copenhagen, Denmark; Amman, Jordan; Swansea, Wales; and Liverpool, England.
