Bobby Lashley vs. James Thompson Headlines Super Fight League 3

Bobby Lashley
India’s Super Fight League has scheduled their third show for May 6 with former Strikeforce heavyweight Bobby Lashley facing James Thompson in the main event.

Promotion officials announced the event on Wednesday.

Bobby Lashley comes to Super Fight League with a 7-1 record and currently riding a two fight win streak after exiting Strikeforce following a loss to Chad Griggs in August 2010.

The former WWE superstar made his transition to MMA in 2008, and instantly became a polarizing figure in the sport. Now he’ll travel to India for his next fight where he headlines Super Fight League’s third show on May 6.

Lashley has also been a candidate to face former Pride champion Fedor Emelianenko for his next fight on June 21 in Russia. Will a fight in early May eliminate him from the possibility of taking that fight? It remains to be seen.

As for Lashley’s opponent, he will face veteran fighter and Super Fight League 1 main event fighter James Thompson.

Thompson has picked up wins in two out of his last three bouts, with the third fight ending in a no contest. The heavy handed Brit will now face a tough wrestler in the main event of the Super Fight League show headed to New Delhi.

Three more fights have also been added to the Super Fight League 3 card including former Strikeforce competitor Trevor Prangley taking on Baga Agaev, Doug Marshall vs. Zelg Galesic, and Lena Ovchynnikova against Joanne Calderwood.

The event will air live on Super Fight League’s YouTube channel on May 6 from India.
