Bielkheden vs. Mason set for Cage Warriors Fight Night 8 in United Arab Emirates

Cage Warriors Fight Night 8 will take place May 11 in Al Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, and the show has its first bout booked for the main card.

A pair of welterweight veterans are set for the show, which will stream live at MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). UFC vet David Bielkheden (17-12) will take on Jack Mason (23-11). Promotion officials recently announced the booking.

Cage Warriors Fight Night 8 will be the promotion’s first card in the Middle East since Fight Night 7 this past September in Amman, Jordan.

Bielkheden, from Sweden, has had a rough go of it lately, dropping five of his past six fights. He returned to Cage Warriors for the first time in more than six years this past June, but dropped a decision to now-welterweith champion Cathal Pendred at Cage Warriors 47 – his first loss in the promotion. In October, he dropped a decision to fellow UFC vet Marcus Davis in Sweden. But the 33-year-old remains dangerous with 12 of his 17 wins by stoppage.

“This is a very interesting matchup as we both have a lot of experience,” Bielkheden stated. “Jack looks extremely strong and is more of a wrestler, which will make it a tough fight. He needs the win over me to go to the next level, and I need to beat him to get back on a winning streak.”

Mason will fight under the Cage Warriors banner for the ninth time and has won six of his past seven fights, including two straight for Cage Warriors. Earlier this month, the Brit stopped Matt Inman with a second-round TKO at Cage Warriors 52. In December, he picked up a decision win over Florent Betorangal at Cage Warriors 51.

“I’m in this sport to test myself against the best, and that’s what I’ll be doing in this fight – so it’s an exciting opportunity for me,” Mason stated. “David is good in all areas and his wrestling is especially strong for a European fighter, but I’ll be looking to put him away inside the distance and make my mark on the Cage Warriors welterweight division.”
