Bellator kicked off its first Summer Series of events on Saturday night on MTV2. Bellator 46, featuring the opening round of the promotion’s summer featherweight tournament, drew an average audience of 185,000 viewers for the live telecast, according to MMAWeekly.com‘s industry sources.
Bellator’s average TV ratings for Season 4 – the promotion’s first season with new television partner MTV2 – was 215,000 viewers per episode. So Saturday’s numbers indicate a slight decline from the recent season average, although the numbers have marked an increase in the Saturday night ratings for MTV2 over its former programming.
The slight dip in ratings was nothing new for Bellator on MTV2. The promotion’s ratings during Season 4 was a roller coaster ride, constantly bouncing between highs and lows.
Pat Curran, Marlon Sandro, Ronnie Mann, and Nazareno Malegarie all emerged victorious in the opening round of the tournament. They will square off in the semifinal round at Bellator 47, which will air live on MTV2 on July 23.
