Bellator 155 announced for May 20, headlined by Carvalho vs. Manhoef title fight

During the Spike broadcast for Bellator 150 the promotion announced the two featured bouts for Bellator 155.

The card, which takes place May 20 from CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho with a main card on Spike, will be headlined by a middleweight title bout between middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho (12-1 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) and Melvin Manhoef (30-12-1 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) with a featherweight bout between Pat Curran (21-7 MMA, 11-4 BMMA) and Georgi Karakhanyan (24-5-1 MMA, 3-3 BMMA) serving as the evening’s co-feature.

Carvalho captured the vacant middleweight title with a body kick TKO of Brandon Halsey at Bellator 144. He is currently riding a 12-fight winning streak, not suffering a defeat since his professional debut. 10 of his 12 victories have come by TKO.

Manhoef picked up a victory in his most recent outing, knocking out Hisaki Kato with a punch at Bellator 146. His prior two bouts did not go his way, with a Bellator 131 knockout loss to Joe Schilling and a Bellator 133 knockout loss to Alexander Shlemenko. The loss to Shlemenko was overturned after the Russian tested positive for anabolic steroids.

Curran, the former featherweight champion, will be returning to action for the first time since a unanimous decision victory over Emmanuel Sanchez this past June. The victory came after his first career two-fight losing skid.

Karakhanyan dropped his most recent fight, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Daniel Weichel at Bellator 147 in December. The featherweight has experienced mixed success in the Bellator cage, but a win over Curran would be a statement victory.
