Back Injury Forces Isaac Vallie-Flagg Out of UFC 161 Showdown With Sam Stout

Isaac Vallie-Flagg has suffered a back injury and has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 161 matchup with Sam Stout.

Sources close to the bout informed Sherdog.com of the development on Tuesday evening. A replacement opponent for Stout has yet to be announced.

UFC 161 takes place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg and is headlined by a light heavyweight showdown between Rashad Evans and Dan Henderson. The card also includes another key 205-pound pairing pitting Mauricio Rua against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

Unbeaten in his last 12 fights, Vallie-Flagg made his Octagon debut in February, taking a split verdict over Yves Edwards at UFC 156. Prior to that victory, the Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts product competed twice under the Strikeforce banner, earning triumphs over Brian Melancon and Gesias Cavalcante.

Stout, who made his first UFC appearance in 2006, defeated Caros Fodor via split decision in his last outing at UFC 157. “Hands of Stone” owns notable wins over Spencer Fisher, Yves Edwards, Joe Lauzon, and Matt Wiman during his tenure with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
