USADA has suspended Chad Mendes for testing positive for Growth Hormone-Releasing Hexapeptide following an out-of-competition urine test conducted on May 17th. GHRP-6 is a prohibited substance in the class of Peptide Hormones, Growth Factors, Related Substances and Mimetics under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, which has adopted the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List.
When the news came out about Mendes testing for a banned substance last month, Mendes Tweeted: I didn't do my homework and that was a big mistake. I own it and I'm going to pay for it.
Mendes is ranked #4 at featherweight, but will be removed from the rankings as a penalty for the positive test.
The other 2 fighters to receive 2 year bans so far are Mirko Filipovic and Gleison Tibau.
