Perez was unable to get passed Marroquin's jab, which Roberto used to set up his hooks to the head and body. Perez couldn't land any significant punches in the first round but in the second round he did find a home with his right hook. Round 3 followed suit, with Marroquin showcasing he was the more well-rounded fighter. With less than a minute to go in round 4, Marroquin landed devastating left hook that landed flush on the chin.
