There's no love lost between Koki Kameda and Kohei Kono. The two met on Friday, October 16th in a super flyweight title matchup on PBC on Spike.
When the two met in the center of the ring before the first round got underway, Kameda refused to shake hands with Kono and that set the tone for the fight. It was going to be a night where both fighters were looking to send a message to the other.
Kono took control in early on and didn't let go. In the 2nd round Kameda was send to the canvas by a fierce straight right from Kono. In the 3rd round, Kameda was deducted a point for a low blow that side lined Kono for a few minutes.
That extra time worked in Kono's favor.
The fever pace continued, with warnings from the ref about calling the fight if any more fouls were committed.
In the end, Kono did more then enough in the judges eyes to win a unanimous decision against Koki Kameda. Kameda was unable to become the first Japanese to win world titles in four different weight divisions.
