Round one was an all standing affair with good movement showed by Houghton and Gates landing effective punches and three solid head kicks. Round two was also all standing with no one even faking a takedown. Houghton found his range better in this round in addition to landing a head kick of his own. Round three saw the fighters stand and exchange with Houghton able to land several stunning punches to Gates. Houghton landed a right hook that dropped his opponent and a few follow up punches on the ground got him the TKO win at 1:47 of round three.
