Jamal James battled Abel Ramos in a 10-round welterweight bout live from The Armory in Minneapolis, MN, on April 13, 2018. This fight was broadcast live on FS1 as part of the Premier Boxing Champions series. James, who hails from Minneapolis, applied pressure right out of the gate in round one and quickly took control of the fight. In round two, James got into a bit of trouble when Ramos landed a hard left hook that shook James. James fell to the canvas shortly after, but the referee ruled it a push. James quickly recovered and the fight pressed on. There was no shortage of back-and-forth action throughout the rest of the fight, however, after ten action-packed rounds, the judges awarded James with a majority decision.
