The UFC was notified that USADA has informed Chad Mendes of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.
USADA will handle the results management of this case. and under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there's a full and fair review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional info will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.
After TKO'ing Ricardo Lamas in April 2015, Mendes lost his last two fights against Conor McGregor in July 2015 and Frankie Edgar in December 2015.
In July 2014, Mendes said: “I’d probably say at least 80 percent of fighters are probably taking something. You know, there’s guys that are coming back from injury trying to take it. Whether it’s them trying to survive, pay their mortgage, pay rent or whatever -- or guys just trying to get that full advantage to be at the top. So yeah, I think there’s a lot of people taking performance enhancing drugs.”
