Another Strikeforce transfer will make his way to the Octagon when Isaac Valle-Flagg takes on Yves Edwards at UFC 156 on Super Bowl weekend, according to UFC officials.
Vallie-Flagg (13-3-1) has been on a tear going 10-0-1 since his last loss. He won back-to-back bouts over Brian Melancon and Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante in his last two fight, both under the Strikeforce banner.
A product of the Jackson-Winkeljohn team in New Mexico, he joins a crowded cast of his teammates in the UFC.
He’s scored a tough draw in his first bout in the Octagon, however, in Yves Edwards.
Edwards (42-18-1) has been fighting professionally for more than 15 years, making his first appearance in the Octagon in 2001, two years before Vallie-Flag even began fighting.
Edwards is 4-2 in his recent swing through the UFC. He’s coming off of a Knockout of the Night victory over Jeremy Stephens at UFC on Fox 5 in Seattle.
Vallie-Flagg vs. Edwards will be part of the supporting cast for the UFC 156 headlining bout between featherweight champion Jose Aldo and challenger Frankie Edgar on Feb. 2 at the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas.
