Circle your calendars, fight fans. May’s UFC 187 event, which features a pair of title fights and a smorgasbord of other intriguing matchups, is now official with 12 fights.
And it’s shaped up to be a can’t-miss event.
UFC 187 takes place May 23 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The main card airs on pay-per-view and features two title fights: light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones (21-1 MMA, 15-1 UFC) vs. Anthony Johnson (19-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) and middleweight champ Chris Weidman (12-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) vs. Vitor Belfort (24-10 MMA, 13-6 UFC).
Jones and Johnson are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA light-heavyweight rankings, and Weidman and Belfort are No. 1 and No. 2 at middleweight.
Elsewhere on the main card, a lightweight title shot is likely up for grabs when No. 2-ranked Khabib Nurmagomedov (22-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) takes on No. 4 Donald Cerrone (27-6 MMA, 14-3 UFC).
Other ranked fighters round out the PPV portion of the card as No. 4 heavyweight Travis Browne (17-2-1 MMA, 8-2-1 UFC) meets former champ and No. 13-ranked Andrei Arlovski (23-10 MMA, 12-4 UFC), and No. 3 flyweight Joseph Benavidez (21-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) takes on No. 6 John Moraga (16-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC).
In the featured FOX Sports 1-televised preliminary-card bout, No. 2 flyweight John Dodson (16-6 MMA, 5-1 UFC) meets No. 10 Zach Makovsky (19-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC).
