World Series of Fighting 4 salaries: Spong, Sefo and Harris earn top payouts

ray-sefo.jpgWinning fighters Tyrone Spong ($31,000) and Gerald Harris ($30,000), as well as losing competitor/company president Ray Sefo ($30,000) were the top earners at this past weekend’s World Series of Fighting 4 event.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today obtained the list of disclosed paydays from the California State Athletic Commission.

WSOF 4 took place Saturday, Aug. 10, at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif. The main card aired on NBC Sports Network.

The total disclosed payroll for the event was $225,000.

Sefo, a veteran kickboxer who temporarily stepped down as WSOF president to train for his fight, earned a flat payday of $30,000. Even if victorious over Dave Huckaba, who earned a second-round TKO, Sefo wouldn’t have earned a win bonus.

The full list of WSOF 4 paydays included:

Tyrone Spong: $31,000 (includes $9,000 win bonus)
def. Angel DeAnda: $4,000

Marlon Moraes: $24,000 (includes $12,000 win bonus)
def. Brandon Hempleman: $3,000

Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter’s income.

In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not necessarily reflect entire compensation packages for the event.
