Kyle Noke has a new opponent for next month’s UFC Fight Night 101 event in Australia.
Dominique Steele (14-8 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has suffered an undisclosed injury, and Noke (22-9-1 MMA, 6-5 UFC) is now slated to fight replacement Omari Akhmedov (15-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC).
UFC officials announced the change via FoxSports.com.au.
UFC Fight Night 101 takes place Nov. 26 (Nov. 27 in Australia) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The event airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Noke, a 36-year-old Australian, has been a UFC regular since a quarterfinal-round finish on “The Ultimate Fighter 11” in 2010. However, after a 3-1 run this included a drop to welterweight, Noke now looks to avoid his third straight loss following a controversial split-decision defeat to Alex Morono and a submission loss to Keita Nakamura.
He now meets Akhmedov, a 29-year-old Dagestani fighter who went 3-1 in his first four UFC fights. However, the well-rounded vet looks to avoid his third straight defeat after TKO losses to Sergio Moraes and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, the latter of which earned “Fight of the Night” bonuses.
