Welterweights Gunnar Nelson, Justin Edwards to Collide Feb. 16 at UFC on Fuel TV 7

The UFC on Fuel TV 7 bill continues to develop rapidly, as promotion officials announced Thursday that Icelandic welterweight Gunnar Nelson will clash with Justin Edwards at the Feb. 16 event.

Headlined by an interim bantamweight title collision between Renan “Barao” Pegado and Michael McDonald, the event takes place Feb. 16 at Wembley Arena in London and will see surging featherweight Cub Swanson collide with former lightweight Dennis Siver in the evening’s co-main event. The show’s main draw airs live on Fuel TV, while the preliminary card streams immediately prior on Facebook.

Nelson, 24, has been perfect through the first 10 fights of his pro career. The Reykjavik-based fighter is known for his grappling skills, earning seven of his victories via submission and three by form of knockout. “Gunni” made his UFC debut on Sept. 29, taking DaMarques Johnson to the floor and finishing him with a rear-naked choke in just 3:34.

A cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 13, Edwards was handed his first defeat in a hard-fought three-round contest with cast mate Clay Harvison at the live season finale last year. Though “Fast Eddie” rebounded with a win over Jorge Lopez, the 29-year-old was outpointed by British talent John Maguire in his next outing. Most recently, Edwards returned to his winning ways against veteran Josh Neer, putting “The Dentist” to sleep with a guillotine choke in just 45 seconds at UFC on FX 5.
