Welcome to the new MMAjunkie.com!

So, you’ve probably noticed the new digs around here, huh?

As MMAjunkie.com celebrates its seventh birthday next week, we today unveiled the third major overhaul of the site. We’re still exterminating the bugs and ironing out the kinks, but hopefully you’ve noticed some of the new features with the overhaul.

This time around, the focus is on functionality. Sure, we’ve got a spiffy new logo (Ben Fowlkes already got it tattooed on his ankle), but you can still expect the same breaking news, on-site event coverage, in-depth reporting, features, columns, videos, photo galleries and more.

However, we think you’ll find that the site loads a bit faster, it certainly updates and can be edited more quickly, and overall, it’s a lot more stable. You don’t even need to refresh the homepage to see if new stories have been published.

Additionally, readers will notice the new device-responsive layout. Whether you’re checking out MMAjunkie.com on a desktop/laptop, tablet, big-screen TV or mobile device, it should look and act pretty much the same. With mobile users now accounting for half our overall traffic, we think you’ll enjoy a better experience. In fact, if you’re on a mobile device, you can simply swipe left or right to navigate to the next or previous story. (However, in addition the improvements to the mobile site, we’ll also be unveiling an overhauled mobile app in the near future.)

Also, we’ve got something the design folks calls “lazy loading,” which means additional stories will show up without needing to click a “see more” button. Additionally, once you’re done reading a story, simply scroll down for more of today’s news (instead of having to continually click “back”).

Come fight night, you should also see a better and more intuitive setup that provides quicker updates to our round-by-round coverage. Stay tuned for updates on the live fight-night blogs.

A few additional features will be added in the coming days, and of course, we encourage your feedback and suggestions.

In the meantime, we’d like to say thanks to the USA TODAY Sports folks, specifically David Levin and Matt Harvey, for heading up the project and continuing to fine-tune our new site.

And as always, an additional and continued thanks to all of you, our fellow Junkies.
