Going down from the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England, BAMMA 7 will also feature a lightweight title scrap between champion Rob Sinclair and challenger Leonardo Santos. Additionally, former EliteXC title challenger Joey Villasenor will square off with onetime Cage Rage British welterweight king Che Mills, while “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 8 winner Efrain Escudero locks horns with Tim Radcliffe.
Watson has won 10 of his last 11 contests and rides back-to-back victories heading into his showdown with Trigg. The 28-year-old won the BAMMA middleweight strap in May 2010, outpointing former International Fight League champion Matt Horwich at BAMMA 3. “Kong” has defended his title successfully twice thus far, earning a unanimous decision over Alex Reid in September before knocking out Murilo “Ninja” Rua at BAMMA 6 in May.
Trigg (Pictured; file photo), 39, also rides a two-fight winning streak. The former two-time UFC welterweight title challenger was recently bounced from the world’s largest promotion after suffering consecutive knockout defeats to Josh Koscheck and Matt Serra. “Twinkle Toes” rebounded from the losses by knocking out Roy Neeman at Israel Fighting Championship “Genesis” in November and made a successful BAMMA debut in May, earning a technical knockout over John Phillips.
