At World Extreme Cagefighting’s final event, WEC 53 in December 2010, Anthony Pettis, with the help of his instantly legendary “Showtime Kick” off the cage, took Benson Henderson‘s title.
Both would go on to the UFC in the merger of the two promotions, where Henderson has gone 7-0, including winning the lightweight title and defending it three times. On Saturday, at UFC 164, he defends it again – against Pettis in Pettis’ hometown of Milwaukee.
Whether or not Pettis, a slight underdog in the fight, can make lightning strike twice against his rival, remains to be seen. But you can relive the pair’s first memorable fight – a five-rounder in WEC 53's main event near Henderson’s Phoenix-area home base – before watching them run things back on Saturday.
Check out the full fight above, and catch Henderson (19-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) and Pettis (16-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) in the pay-per-view main event of UFC 164 at Milwaukee’s Bradley Center.
