LAS VEGAS – The fight hasn’t even happened yet, but it seems like a big chunk of Ireland already is ready to celebrate in Las Vegas again.
Following today’s weigh-ins for UFC 196, thousands of Conor McGregor supporters streamed out of MGM Grand Garden Arena and into the concourse and lobby. And just like the last couple times McGregor has headlined “Sin City,” his fans followed his mantra of “We’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over.”
And take over, they threatened to do, meaning it’s hard to imagine how crazy things will get Saturday night if McGregor, a 5-1 favorite, beats Diaz in the main event.
McGregor (19-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC), the UFC’s featherweight champion meets Diaz (18-10 MMA, 13-8 UFC) in the headliner after lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos pulled out of a 155-pound title fight against Ireland’s McGregor, who was attempting to win a second UFC belt. UFC 196 takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
