LAS VEGAS – Kenny Robertson (14-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) earned a dominant decision victory over Ildemar Alcantara (20-7 MMA, 3-2 UFC) at UFC 175, but even with that, he’s still not satisfied.
It’s not often MMA judges will award 10-8 rounds, however, all three judges overseeing the fight gave Robertson the second round by that score. The victory marked the second in a row for Robertson and he’s slowly moving up the ladder in a very crowded welterweight division.
Even though he was never in trouble during the 15 minute contest and walked away essentially unscathed, Robertson says he is a perfectionist and feels his performance could have been even better, which is why he was surprised the judges thought he performed so strongly.
“Actually I was a little disappointed,” Robertson told MMAjunkie. “I wasn’t getting off as many elbows and punches as I needed. If I had a little more speed with my punches and elbows then I could have got the stoppage.
“I think I always want more, so I was actually a little disappointed. When they said 26-30, I was really shocked.”
