Video: T.J. Dillashaw welcomes fight with ex-UFC champ Dominick Cruz

Although no return date is set for the former champ, and though T.J. Dillashaw is likely to be booked for another matchup anyway, the bantamweight contender said he’d welcome a fight with Dominick Cruz.

“I think ‘The Dominator’ needs to come back,” Dillashaw recently told MMAjunkie. “That would always be a good fight. [Since I] started fighting, he’s the champion in my book. It’d be cool to fight him as well, and then I’d get my shot at two champions.”

Dillashaw (9-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC), who’s won five of his past six fights, wants any matchup that gets him closer to Renan Barao, who was awarded the 135-pound title after Cruz’s latest injury woe prompted UFC officials to strip him of the belt. Cruz (19-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) hasn’t fought since October 2011 due to a knee surgery and a recent groin injury.

Check out the above video as Dillashaw discusses the potential matchup and his own title plans.
